Purpose
Provide a pictographic essay summarizing the evolution of cardiac MRI with special emphasis on the first 14 years vs the later developments in the second 14 years of this technology.
Methods and Materials
The presentation draws upon an extensive file of images and graphs acquired over 28 years of experience using 1.5T MR machines from two different vendors.

Conclusion
Over the past 28 years,
CMR has become a valuable tool for cardiac diagnosis,
pre-procedural evaluation/mapping,
post procedural evaluation,
research into myocardial dynamics,
coronary visualization,
atherosclerosis,
blood flow and tissue characterisation.
CMR,
as a research tool,
promises greater advances in the future as we study the heart in ways no other modality can.
