Purpose
To test accuracy and reproducibility of breast US with MR volume navigation and fusion imaging (VNav) as reference.
Methods and Materials
Five healthy female volunteers (45±12 years, range 33-65) underwent bilateral contrast-enhanced (0.1 mmol/Kgbw Gd-BOPTA, Bracco Diagnostics) breast MR in supine position (1.5T, Achieva, Philips Healthcare) using T1-weighted high resolution isotropic examination volume and spectral attenuated inversion recovery fat suppression with body coil after positioning three vitamin E capsules over a corresponding surgical skin marker. Later than, each subject underwent unilateral US exam (LOGIQ E9, GE Healthcare) with high-resolution linear probe using MR volume coregistration with VNav software by means of an electromagnetic transmitter close to...
Results
In all subjects VNav was obtained. Time to obtain VNav was 10±2 and 9±4 minutes (p=0.642). A total of one hundred point-to-probe distances were measured. For each radiologist, point-to-probe distance mean and SD were 0.42±0.32 cm, 0.58±0.41 cm (p=0.16) and 0.50±0.32 cm and 0.56±0.52 cm (p=0.92), respectively.
Conclusion
Breast US with VNav can be obtained with acceptable level of accuracy and elevated values of intra- and interobserver agreement.
