Learning objectives
The purpose of our study was to review the role of imaging in the diagnosis of inflammatory demyelinating disorders and to become familiar with differential diagnosis of these diseases.
Background
We report a retrospective study that evaluates 91 cases with inflammatory-demyelinating disease of the central nervous system (CNS),
seen from January 2009 to March 2012.
Some patients underwent cerebral CT scanning (n=35) and all of them undergo cerebral MR imaging (n=91).
Semiological patterns,
cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analysis and temporo-spatial evolution of the lesion led to the diagnosis.
Imaging findings OR Procedure details
The inflammatory demyelinating diseases identified were as follows: Multiple sclerosis (n = 40) with one case of pseudotumor cerebri syndrome (n = 1); Devic's disease or neuromyelitis optica (n = 2),
acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (n = 8),
Lyme disease (n = 1); neuro-Behçet's disease (n = 16); lupus erythematosus (n = 3); Gougerot Sjogren (n = 1); neurosarcoidosis (n = 2).

Conclusion
Good knowledge of the MRI radiological findings of the inflammatory demyelinating diseases,
allows a better approaches to the diagnosis of these complex diseases.
