Aims and objectives
There are two methods of ultrasound imaging Cowper's glands (CG): transrectal and transperineal.
In clinical practice,
mainly used transrectal method of ultrasonic imaging CG,
the two methods studied incompletely [1-4].
Purpose.
To study the possibilities transrectal (TRUS) and (TPUS) methods ultrasonic imaging CG.
Methods and materials
TRUS and TPUS CG simultaneously performed on the apparatus of the expert class Voluson E8 (GE,
USA) at 52 men - volunteers aged 22 to 73 years using a rectal probe 6 to 9 MHz and a linear sensor 6 to 16 MHz.
TRUS CG was performed with preparation of the rectum in the left cubital position of the patient.
TPUS CG was performed with the patient lying on your back with knees bent and apart legs,
allotted to the anterior abdominal wall of the...
Results
In 48 (92%) CG were located within the urogenital diaphragm,
2 (4%) cases were identified abdominal-bulbar localization CG and in 2 (4%) - bulbar localization CG.
Visualization CG at TPUS obtained in all patients,
with TRUS – at 48 (92%).
The advantages of TPUS CG were: satisfactory visualization CG in any of their localization; no special preparation of the rectum and contraindications,
good tolerability.
Disadvantages of TPUS CG were: poor visualization CG in patients with obesity (BMI over 30).
The advantages TRUS CG have not...
Conclusion
TPUS is the preferred method of visualization CG on TRUS.
The use of TPUS shown in all cases the visualization CG,
except in patients with obesity (BMI over 30).
