Treatment of bone giant cell tumour (GCT) usually consists of surgical resection. GCT local recurrence occurs in 2%–25% of cases. Percutaneous radiofrequency thermal ablation has been reported in the literature as a successful treatment for benign bone tumours. However, we have not foundin the literature reference to this treatment modalityfor local recurrent GCT. The aim of this communication is to describe our experience on percutaneous radiofrequency thermal ablation treatment insome GCT recurrences in which another surgery could be too aggressive.

We report four recurrent GCTs from our institutions, successfully treated by means of percutaneous radiofrequency thermal ablation (from 2009 to 2014). The recurentGCTs werelocated in: Case 1:lateral cuneiform bone of the right tarsus Case 2: distal epiphysis of left the tibia involving subchondral cortical bone. Case 3:greater tuberosity of the rightfemur. Case 4: Iliac bone with break of the subchondral cortical of acetabulum and tumor growing into the hip joint. Case 1 Female,15 years old at diagnosis (October 2004). The patient had a left ankle sprain three years ago. Since then she had had edema and swelling in the lateral aspect of the midfoot, and pain with exercise whichwas increasing lately. Percutaneous radiofrequency thermal ablation treatment of recurrent bone giant cell tumour is a reliable alternative treatment to a new surgery resection and it might be the best treatmentin selected cases when the surgery morbidity is high.
