Learning objectives

1. Explore the spectrum of Interventional Radiology (IR) procedures in hepato-biliary diseases. 2. Different clinical presentations of patients planned for hepato-biliary interventions. 3. Pre-procedure images, if applicable. 4. Quick review of the techniques for image guided Interventional procedures in the diagnostic/management approaches of hepatobiliary diseases. 5. Post procedural images and outcome, if applicable.

Background

Hepatobiliary disease has wide range of prevalence including heterogeneous group of diseases of the liver and biliary system caused by infections, inflammatoryand neoplasia that require different diagnostic/therapeutic approaches. Interventional radiology procedures are minimally invasive procedures that deliver safe and effective diagnostic/therapeutic management of the hepatobiliarydiseases compared to surgery using state-of-the-art imaging and miniaturized instruments. In our educational poster, we will cover almost all the spectrum of IR procedures in terms of clinical presentationsand the radiological modality needed in diagnosis/treatmentof hepatobiliary diseases from our institution.

Conclusion

Interventional Radiology plays a crucial role in the diagnosis and management of hepato-biliary diseases through various minimally invasive procedures. Interventional Radiologyoffers more safe, less complication rate therapy that allows rapid diagnosis, effective treatment and shorter patient's hospital stay.
