Learning objectives
To analyze the characteristics of Radiological and Imaging,
of the Synovial Sarcoma (SS) using Simple Radiology,
Ultrasound,
Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
In a period,
from 2013-2017,
in the National Institute of Cancerology (Mexico),
Hospital of High Spatiality and concentration in oncological diseases in the adult.
Background
This entity was first described in 1893.
It is considered a soft-tissue sarcomatous lesion,
which usually occurs in adolescents and young people,
which despite its name does not depend on intra-articular tissue,
but is close to an articulation.
It is the third sarcomatous lesion of soft tissue in the adult (1) it can be confused at first with benign lesions,
since they are small and painless lesions,
of slow growth,
in some cases they are associated with trauma (2)
Synovial Sarcoma,
mesenchymal neoplasm is clinically,...
Findings and procedure details
In imaging studies,
plain radiography may be normal if the lesion is small,
deep,
and / or close to an anatomical complex; if it is larger and palpable,
the lesion is defined and of average consistency close to a joint,
it may or may not have amorphous bone erosions; there is rarely subperiosteal reaction and compromise to endosteum and bone marrow (5).
Ultrasound shows images of solid mass of soft,
hypoechoic,
nodular,
round or lobulated parts,
generally heterogeneous with mixed structural pattern,
not very aggressive...
Conclusion
After having studied and analyzed our cases; we can say the great importance of images in Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance,
mainly with Angioresonancia,
where we can understand the angiogenesis,
hemorrhage,
necrosis and behavior of Synovial Sarcoma.
