Imaging methods are employed more frequently for different causes, therefore kidneys are more commonly imaged. This leads to early detection and diagnosis of kidney lesions. Up to 50% of renal lesions are diagnosed incidentally. Usually they are not very large and susceptible for nephron sparing surgical techniques and this has minimized secondary impairment of renal function. Election of surgery procedure will depend on multiple factors: tumor characteristics, patient condition, multiple or bilateral tumors, solitary kidney, history of hereditary cancer syndromes... Renal cancer tumor is a frequent pathology that usually requires surgical treatment. Radiologists need to be acquainted with surgical techniques and clinical scenarios to perform an adequate postsurgical MDCT protocol and obtain its maximum information. Normal findings and complications that can be found in this setting will be reviewed.
