Background/introduction
The ESR Patient Advisory Group (ESR-PAG) was established in 2013 to bring together patients,
the public and imaging professionals in order to collectively address and leverage developments in the field of radiology.
The ESR-PAG advocates for a patient-centred approach in the activities of the ESR with the aim of benefiting patients across Europe.

Description of activity and work performed
A driver diagram is used to conceptualize an issue and to determine its system components which will then create a pathway to achieve the goal of person-centred care.
Primary drivers are system components which will contribute to moving the primary outcome.
Secondary drivers are elements of the associated primary driver.
They contain change concepts that can be used to create projects that will affect the primary driver.

Conclusion and recommendations
The driver diagram is a hands-on tool that seeks to achieve a chain of communication between the radiology department and the patient that is effective,
timely,
inclusive and personalised.
The ESR-PAG is confident that the driver diagram will contribute to a patient-centred approach in the activities of the ESR and radiology departments across Europe.
