Aims and objectives
To determine the journal publication rates of oral scientific papers presented at the annual conferences of the Radiological Society of Pakistan from 2008 to 2017.
Methods and materials
Institutional review board exempted approval as no human subjects were involved.
Three reviewers independently examined the abstract books of a total of ten international conferences organized by the radiological society of Pakistan (RSP) from 2008 to 2017.
According to the inclusion criteria,
only original research articles corresponding to the submitted abstracts were selected.
According to the exclusion criteria,
review papers,
lectures,
invited talks and poster presentations were excluded.
All selected scientific papers were evaluated for publication using the Medline and Pakmedinet database.

Results
Overall,
86 out of the total 489 oral scientific papers presented in ten annual conferences subsequently underwent journal publication resulting in a publication rate of 20%.
The publication percentages of various radiological modalities were as follows (Fig:1) PET/CT (40%),
Nuclear Medicine (Non-PET) (33%),
CT (21.5%),
ultrasound (21.5%),
interventional radiology (20%),
radiography (20%) and MRI (17%).
Neuroradiology (70/17),
genitourinary (59/14),
gastrointestinal (50/6),
hepatobiliary (38/7) and musculoskeletal (37/3) were the top five subspecialties in terms of maximum number of oral scientific presentations (Fig: 3).

Conclusion
Radiological Society of Pakistan with its limited resources and relatively fewer members has managed to attain results which are comparable with some of the renowned international radiological societies.
Therefore,
we can confidently infer that with a little more efforts of the society and enthusiasm of its members and participants we can easily attain higher publication rates.
Additionally,
participation in international conferences can also help in boosting the confidence of the Pakistani radiologists and have a positive impact on their overall research output.
