Aims and objectives
Establish by radiological images the main manifestations of neurocysticercosis (NCC).
Instruct radiologists in the diagnosis of the neurocysticercosis stages. Facilitate the learning of neurocysticercosis (NCC). Help clinicians with the differential diagnosis in the management of epilepsy.
Methods and materials
Selection of 14 articles from the best authors in Neurocysticercosis known in Mexico,
with a review of the databases selecting 25 of the most representative cases from a database of more than 500 patients with NCC over 5 years seen in the National Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery.
A bibliographic review of the most representative authors is obtained with the approach and experience in the diagnosis of Neurocysticercosis,
adapting the experience of the researchers to establish a simple approach in the detection of the radiological patterns of the stages of NCC. Identification of the patterns and their imaging correlation within the reach of radiologists determining the most representative radiological images of the 25 cases determined as the most classic of a database...
1. Neuroimaging is an absolute diagnostic criterion on neurocysticercosis (NCC) 2. Clinical manifestation of an NCC infection needs to be associated with the radiological patterns presented,
due to the high incidence of epilepsy related to neurocysticercosis. 3. The FIESTA sequence and T1+Gd contrast sequence are Gold Standard on NCC diagnosis 4. Parenchymal Calcifications or involutive phase of the NCC is detected on the CT without contrast. 5. Differential Diagnosis needs additional...
