Learning objectives
1) To present the wide spectrum of vascular compression disorders.
2) To compare imaging and clinical findings.
3) To familiarize radiologists with the aforementioned imaging findings.
Background
There are many vascular compression syndromes and in this paper we will highlight some of them.
These disorders are divided into two groups.
The first category includes cases where a vessel is compressed by another structure such as Eagle syndrome,
nutcracker syndrome,
posterior nutcracker syndrome,
median arcuate ligament syndrome etc.
On the other hand the second category involves cases where a vascular structure (vein or artery) compresses other adjacent structures,
including ovarian vein syndrome,
dysphagia lusoria,
SMA syndrome etc.
Chronic entrapmentin these entities may give...
Findings and procedure details
Procedure details: The patients we present were admitted to the emergency department for evaluation in an acute setting and the vascular compression syndromes where incidental findings.
Scanning was performed with a 16-slice CT scanner,
intravenous contrast was administered in most cases and MPR,
MIP and 3D reconstructions aided in identifying these entities.
We report cases of Eagle syndrome,
nutcracker and posterior nutcracker syndrome,
median arcuate ligament syndrome,
ovarian vein syndrome,
May-Thurner syndrome etc.

Conclusion
These disorders are rare and usually they appear as an incidental finding in asymptomatic or symptomatic without known cause patients and in patients that undergo imaging for other causes.
Recognition of these entities may be crucial for patients that may benefit from treatment.
