Learning objectives
The purpose of this poster is to describe 15 eponyms used in abdominal radiology to name different anatomical structures,
pathological findings,
diseases,and scores andgive information about the people who studied,
discovered or first proposed them.
Background
An eponym is an individual,
place,
or an inanimate object after whom or which something is named (Fig. 2).
In their practice,
radiologists encounter multiple eponyms - anatomical structures and variants,
pathological processes and diseases,
scores and procedures named after distinguished medical professionals.
The appropriate use of these terms is essential for the communication with specialists from other areas of the medicine and for correct and faultless reporting.

Findings and procedure details
The authors performed a literature review on the topic of eponyms in gastroenterology,
chose a number of them and executed a search through their case archive to find illustrative examples.
The authors present in alphabetical order each eponym and discuss its imaging manifestations and the historical background of the individual for whom it was named.

Conclusion
A great number of eponyms are encountered in the everyday medical practice and expertise in them is essential for proper reporting and communication.
