Learning objectives
Tolearnthe proper ultrasound scanning of shoulder by means of an interactive 3D digital application.
Better understanding the rotator cuff pathology ultrasound images through faithfully correlated high quality anatomic 3D images.
Background
The demand of learning the proper ultrasoundscanningofmusculoskeletal system is growing.
On the other hand,
ultrasound image does not have a straightforward anatomic representation,
andunderstanding of the normal and pathologic ultrasound images is difficult for patients and clinicians without ultrasound experience,
especially on musculoskeletal system.Iteven could be the reason for asking for too many shoulder magnetic resonance studies to evaluate the rotator cuff instead of requesting this modality.
Findings and procedure details
We have designed a digital application:
1.
To correlate in real time the virtual ultrasoundtransducer movement during the shoulder scanningwithshoulder ultrasound imagesby means ofinteractive videos,
in order to learn and training the ultrasound shoulder exploration.
This digital aplication is based on fourteen ultrasound scans to include a proper andcomplete shoulder ultrasound exploration.
We show two video examples (20 Mb limited space) tounderstand the interface of the application.
The user will be able to move virtually the probe for training the ultrasound exploration.

Conclusion
This digital application can be very useful tool to learn the ultrasound technique to diagnose rotator cuff pathology and toconvertthese ultrasound images intofaithful 3D anatomic images,
in order to achieve a better understanding and representation ofthe ultrasound images
