Learning objectives

To describe the implementation of a Teaching File System (TFS) using MIRC (Medical Imaging Resource Center) in a third-level public hospital and review the advantages of a file case archive.

Background

Radiology departments are managing large amounts of information daily; how it is stored constitutes an important task, as information needs to be retrieved both easily and in a powerful way. Organizing and storing data is important as it can be used for several purposes: Personal storage: as your own file case, to save interesting or difficult cases. Findings and procedure details

In an attempt to homogenize the way radiologists store information, our institution has implemented a file case archive using MIRC (Medical Imaging Resource Center), an existing free software developed by RSNA (Radiological Society of North America). Fig. 3 As we said, numerous advantages are offered with a standard storing information system, including teaching and research capabilities, network accessibility, user-friendliness and sustainability over time. The creation of a Teaching File System (TFS) can be helpful at gathering information, allowing Radiology departments to be more productive in order to give better care to our patients.
