Aims and objectives
Percutaneouslungbiopsies for pulmonary masses require image guidance to avoid critical structures.
And,
navigation systems are promising tools in this field to facilitate the execution of the entire biopsy procedure.
The purpose of this research is to evaluate the value of four dimensional magnetic navigation CT-guided system in percutaneous lung biopsy .
Methods and materials
This open-label and investigator-initiated study retrospectively analyzed 1000 patients underwent percutaneous lung biopsy during 2016.1 to 2018.6 in our center.
Among which,
500 patients were performed using this new navigation system,
and the other underwent conventional CT guided percutaneous lung biopsy.
Numbers of CT scans,
radiation dose to patients,
procedural time, the occurrence of hemorrhage and pneumothorax were compared between the two groups.
Results
Percutaneouslungbiopsy based four dimensional magnetic navigation CT-guided system can reduce the number of CT scans,
radiation dose to patients,
procedural time,
the probability of hemorrhage and pneumothorax.
The difference was statistically significant.
Conclusion
Four dimensional magnetic navigation CT-guided system was a reliable and effective toolto applied in percutaneus aspiration lung biopsy.
It allows a precise planning of the needle path thus reducing intraprocedural repositioning of the needle.
So there will be less hemorrhage and pneumothorax,
accurate guide and can make a pathologic diagnosis on pulmonary tumor.
It make percutaneus aspiration lung biopsy safer. The benefit to treatment evaluation of patients at every phases is encouraging.
