The expanding fields of interventional radiology and cardiology with more innovative and complex procedures.
Has led to very high levels of total procedural radiation dose being recorded at the x-ray tube or roughly calculated air kerma.
As such the total stochastic levels of future harm are roughly recorded but until lately,
we have lacked the ability to accurately measure live in all the various image projections.

Recently x- ray vendors are answering this dose safety need and are coming out with skin dose measuring systems of various accuracy and functionality
At St George Hospital Sydney we were the first live lab outside Japan to use Canons DTS (dose tracking system).
Where a colour coded biomorphic patient avatar,
displays a live skin dose representation for safety in the sometimes hrs long procedures done at our cardiac interventional reference site,
known for complex procedures.

Conclusion and recommendations
As well as using the live patient colour avatar image to slightly adjust the beam angle in complex interventions,
saving many possible skin burns
( > 2 Gry displayed) .
We have found that the live colour feedback of Canons DTS was the most discerning and easy to use of the various systems.
In fact,
beyond the acute use of safety to monitor possible skin burns.
