Purpose
Aim of this study is to show the importance of dynamic study by Aber position in shoulder instability.
Methods and Materials
We used Philips MRI equipment by 1.5 Tesla with T1 and T2 weighted TSE multiplane sequences.
The basic exam has been integrated by an MRI carried on with an Esaote G scan Brio on an oblique coronal plane sequence – Aber clinostatic position with the patient in seated position,
repeated with an axial weight bearing sequence,
with an additional weight applied to the examining limb,
in order to keep it straight and under functional load.
We used the oblique coronal scansion,
along the longitudinal axis...
Results
We studied 10 amateur and professional athletes in different sports (soccer,
hockey,
basketball,
rugby,
volleyball) who had a feeling of instability of an upper limb,
occurred after a sport trauma caused by direct and indirect tackle to the joint.
We cut out from the study those subjects who showed fractures or bone contusions.
In particular,
we selected patients who had a history of possible overuse caused by trauma coming from a repeated athletic actions and patients presenting a verified direct sport trauma.
All athletes had...
Conclusion
The first results seem helping have a better selection of the instability cases during weight bearing exams,
carried on in Aber Position.
More specifically,
it helps us define better capsule compromission and glenohumeral joint misalignment.
