Learning objectives

1. Review classic and new anatomic variants discoveries of the quadriceps muscle complex with cadaveric correlatio

2. Improve our understanding of Imaging anatomy that is pertinent to perform biopsy and limb salvage surgery.

3. Describe the natural pathways of the anterior thigh extracompartimental dissemination of malignant and inflammatory diseases

4. Describe the anatomical variants of perforator branches of the lateral circumflex femoral artery and recognize the role of imaging in the planning of anterolateral thigh flap planning.

Proximal thigh  level

Rectus femoris muscle extentions origin complex and insertion  complex

•Proximal membranous origin continuation from anterosuperior iliac spine  (ASIS variant). •Imaging proximal direct and indirect tendinous tear with preserved anterosuperior iliac spine membranous origin continuation  injury.

Middle thigh level

Rectus femoris muscle extentions origin complex and insertion  complex

•Intramuscular indirect tendon anatomy

•Imaging indirect tendinous intramuscular and imaging rectus muscle “degloving/calçot ” injuries.

Vastus intermedius -tensor vastus intermedius - genus articularis  related muscles

•Vastus intermedius -tensor vastus intermedius muscle related muscles  (variant).

•Imaging tensor vastus intermedius muscle: traumatic and neoplastic patterns .

Distal thigh level

Rectus femoris muscle extentions origin complex and insertion  complex

•Distal  tendinous prepatellar (insertion  continuation).

• Imaging distal prepatellar tendinous  tear.

Vastus intermedius -tensor vastus intermedius - genus articularis  related muscles

•Vastus intermedius - genus articularis  related muscles.

•Imaging genus articularis  muscle .
