Learning objectives
The shoulder joint is functionally and structurally complex.
Indications for imaging of the shoulder have considerably increased in the last few years.
Awareness and understanding of the complex anatomy of the shoulder articulation and the ability to recognize normal anatomic variants are critical to accurate interpretation of arthrographic CT and MR imaging studies.

Background
Like other body structures,
the glenohumeral ligaments,
labrum and biceps brachii tendon can present multiple anatomic variations.
Detailed knowledge about AMR and ACT imaging appearance of normal anatomy,
as well as common normal variants is mandatory for correct diagnoses.
This educational poster will review the anatomy and variants of these structures using illustrative iconography.
Imaging findings OR Procedure Details
Normal AMR imaging appearance of the intra-articular gleno-humeral structures is not different from the appearance of other tendons and ligaments.
On suppressed and non supressed T1,
T2 and intermediate weighted MR images,
ligaments,
labrum and biceps brachii tendon are typically hypointense.
On ACT those structures are hypodense within contrast media.
Biceps Brachii anatomyOriginate from supraglenoid tuberosity,
labrum (anterosuperior and posterosuperior) or coracoid process.

Conclusion
Evaluation of the intra-articular gleno-humeral structures needs detailed knowledge about the normal anatomy and normal variants to avoid misdiagnoses.
Multiple anatomic variation can reliably be detected when radiologists are familiar with normal AMR and ACT imaging appearance.
