Purpose
Our goal is to investigate and highlight the role and degree of involvement of radiologists in TAVI Heart Teams in Greek reality, by the perspective of the others team members, as well as by the viewpoint of the radiologists, themselves.
Methods and Materials
We designed and distributed on line, in different hospitals (University, Public, Private), two different surveys, about the role of radiologists in TAVI Heart Team.
One of them to be filled by Heart Team members with different medical specialities, and one addressed to radiologists allready involved in the procedure, regarding the way they see themselves as part of this team.
The surveys were electronicaly shared by email, were anonymously and consent was obtained ofeach participant.
Unexpectedly it was not an easy going throughout procedure, to promote...
Results
Selected participants included in the surveys, were, only spesialized in Cardiovascular Imaging, Radiologists. Up to this moment there were enrolled (as the research is still on going) 15 radiologists already involved in pre-TAVI planning and 15 Heart Team members (mostly Team leaders) - (Cardiologists, Cardiothoracic Surgeons) from the biggest cities of Greece.
Conclusion
Although, we have to admit that it was a challenging procedure, we were surprised by some of the responses, and realized that both parts are seeking at the deep end, better collaboration, no matter theapparent previous conclusions, that were not in favor of a well-established role for radiologists in Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation programs.
These preliminary remarks make us wonder even more, and we would love to extend our research further, enroling more participants, even in other countries, in order to explore, also, the uniqueness...
