Cryotherapy for liver cancer has recurrence rates about 12%-24%, espcially the tumor diameter above 3 cm, if the lesion with vessel or/and bile duct proximity, the recurrence would be more higher .we combined Cryotherapy and Iodine-125 seeds implantation in treating liver cancer, which would much decrease the recurrence and complication.

From May 2008 to March 2010,85 tumors underwent Cryotherapy and Iodine-125 seeds implantation in 43 patients (36 male and 7 female; age 41-72 years, mean 52.6 years), tumor size range 2 to 8cm diameter (mean 5 cm). Overall the 43 experiences performed successfully, seroperitoneum was seen in 7 of the procedures, which did not influence the treatment plan, and after 3-7days the seroperitoneum was absorption absolutely. The effective rate on tumor size of 1, 3 and 6 months after treatment was 60%(51/85), 68%(58/85) and 80%(68/85), respectively.
