Results
Overall,
44 of the 118 patients underwent rectal MRI and CTC during the study period.
The patients’ characteristics and tumor T-staging are shown in Table 2; T3 was the most common,
while T1 was the least common.

Table 2.Patients’ characteristic and distribution of tumor T-Staging
Diagnostic concordance rates with tumor invasion depth on histopathology were 70.5% for rectal MRI,
68.2% for CTC,
and 58.1% for OC (Fig.5).
Fig. 5: Coincidence rate with pathology by MRI, CTC, OC
However,
there were no significant differences in detectability between rectal MRI and CTC (p=1.00),
between rectal MRI and OC (p=0.33),
and between CTC and OC (p=0.45).
In addition,
the percentages of understaging and overstaging were 13.6% and 15.9% for MRI,
11.4%,
and 20.5% for CTC,
and 36.4% and 4.5% for OC,
respectively (Table 3-a,b,c); there were significant differences between MRI and OC and between CTC and OC in terms of understaging and between CTC and OC in terms of overstaging (Fig.6).
