Conclusion
2D Navigation of thyroid,
shoulder and kidney districts by BodyMap technology using reference images as SPECT,
MRI,
X-Ray and CT images combined with US is feasible in everyday clinical practice.
This technology seems particularly useful for improving Radiological examination workflow and confidence,
as it allows automatic saving of pictures and clips of the US examined area with automatic probe position indication,
thanks to real-time tracking.
BodyMap technology could offer interesting workflow improvements in diagnosis,
follow up and treatment of hot and cold thyroid nodules by the combination with SPECT,
making easier the detection and discrimination between possibly malignant lesions with respect to possibly benign ones.
BodyMap technology could offer interesting workflow improvements also in diagnosis and follow up of shoulder lesions (especially after trauma),
showing automatically US image acquisition points with respect to the panoramic view available on the DICOM X-Ray or MRI slice image.
Furthermore,
in radiological examinations it could be useful to avoid “wrong side indications” which could occur in kidney examinations.
