Aims and objectives
Today,
the issue of early identification among patients with left ventricular myocardial hypertrophy of patients with HCM is still urgent in cardiradiology in connection with an increased risk of sudden cardiac death in these patients.
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is one of the frequent rhythm disturbances both in the general population and in patients with HCM,
which largely determines the course and prognosis of the underlying disease.
It is proved that the development of AF occurs in 20-30% of patients with HCM and directly related complications either ischemic stroke or thromboembolism occur in 32% of patients.
Nowdays there are a few publications on the determination of global / diffuse left atrial fibrosis non-invasive.
New MRI possibilities allow to measure the absolute value of T1-time in the heart muscle,
as well as calculate the extracellular volume fraction(ECV),
which is a quantitative evaluation of intramyocardial fibrosis. It is still unknown which tissue characteristics of left atrial myocardium are associated with the onset of AF.
The aim of our study was to identify MR-patterns associated with AF in patients with HCM.
