Results
Twenty five renal masses were evaluated in 25 patients,
they were 17 male and 8 female,
their age ranged from 38 to 81 years,
mean age 56,04±11,30.
Fourteen masses underwent radical nephrectomy and ten masses underwent partial nephrectomy while true cut needle biopsy was done for one mass.
Pathologic confirmation of these 25 renal masses had obtained with 21 diagnosed as clear cell RCCs,
3 as papillary RCCs and 1 as chromophobe RCCs.
The Mean dif-ADC value was significantly higher than sel-ADC value.
The mean sel-ADC value was 1,13923 ±0,352566 x10-3 mm2/s,
and the mean dif-ADC value was 1,42513±0,380143 x10-3 mm2/s,
for all RCC subtypes.
Significant statistical difference in the mean sel-ADC values between the mean dif-ADC was demonstrated (P <0.05).
The Mean ADC value of uninvolved renal parenchyma was significantly higher than RCC.
The mean ADC values of uninvolved renal parenchyma was 1,8550±0,11314x10-3 mm2/s and for all RCC subtypes was 1,13923±0,352566x10-3 mm2/s.
Significant statistical difference in ADC values between all RCC subtypes and the uninvolved renal parenchyma was demonstrated.
(P <0.05).
The ADC values for clear cell RCC were higher than papillary and chromophobe RCC.
Also the ADC values for papillary RCC were higher than chromophobe RCC.
The mean ADC values of Clear cell RCC was 1,172±0,336824x10-3 mm2/s,
for papillary RCC was 1,057±0,480940x10-3mm2/s and for chromophobe RCC was 0,683 x10-3 mm2/s.
No statistically significant difference was found between the ADC values for all RCC histological subtypes (P>0,05).
Also in all measurements ,no statistically significant difference was found between independent two radiologist’s measurement.
(P>0,05).
Also the results of correlation analysis showed that Fuhrman grade of RCC was negatively correlated with ADC value. The mean ADC value was measured lower as the tumor grade increased.
