98 patients with hip diseases who underwent both hip MRA and subsequent hip arthroscopy were retrospectively reviewed.
These patients were composed of 47 male and 51 female,
aged between 11 and 64 years old,
with a mean age of 34.2 years old.
Two female patients underwent bilateral hip MRA and arthroscopy,
while the rest patients only accepted unilateral hip MRA and arthroscopy.
A total of 100 hip joints,
including 48 right hip joints and 52 left hip joints were evaluated. MRA images were assessed by an experienced musculoskeletal radiologist who was blinded to the arthroscopic findings.
The regions and Czerny stages [3] of acetabular labral tears were recorded.
The sensitivity,
specificity,
positive predictive value (PPV),
negative predictive value (NPV) and accuracy of MRA for diagnosing different regions (anterior and superior labrum) and Czerny stages(stage II and III) of acetabular labral tears were calculated and compared,
using the results of arthroscopy as gold standard.
The differences were compared using the chi-square test or Fisher exact test.
