Conclusion
Trampolining can be a dangerous activity leading to life-altering injuries.
Severe head and spinal injuries were seen within our cohort over 6 years.
2% of children imaged were via CT and MR with 50% pick up rate.
- More should be done to increase the safety of trampolining in order to reduce these injuries.
For example,
national mandatory safety standards for indoor trampoline park operators,
or general guidelines and standards aiming to increase public awareness and to prevent injury.
- Prompt use of cross-sectional imaging is advised when there is suspicion of significant head or spinal trauma.
- Use in the sub-acute setting can also be useful after clinical assessment and for surgical planning.
