Purpose
The evaluation of the lacrimal pathways can be performed by anatomical and functional methods. Anatomy is well seen by radiological procedures such as X-rays, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. Functional studies are performed by dyes (Jones’ test), by radioisotopes on scintigraphy or by magnetic resonance imaging [1, 4, 5].

Methods and materials
A descriptive and retrospective study was performed between January 2009 and December 2018 in our service, with analysis of the parameters of age, gender, clinical manifestation, diagnostic hypothesis, and imaging findings.
Before the exam, the patient answers a questionnaire about signs and symptoms, medications in use, previous surgeries and a consent form for the use of iodinated contrast. Five minutes before the start of the examination, two drops of anaesthetic eye drops (proxymetacaine hydrochloride - 5mg) is instilled into each eye.

Results
The total number of examinations performed at our institution during this period was 1122. The mean age of the patients was 61.8 years, and 70% were females (Figure 3).
Regarding the diagnostic hypothesis of the exam, obstruction screening was the most prevalent (92.1%). Other less frequent indications were infection and/or inflammation (5.3%), post-trauma evaluation (1.4%), postoperative evaluation (1.1%) and bleeding with one case (0.1%). See figure 4.

Conclusion
The results obtained in this study are in agreement with the validated findings from the literature, confirming that epiphora occurs more frequently in female patients, with an average age above sixty years old, having the Krause valve the most affected topography in the lacrimal pathway.
