Purpose
Breast cancer is the most frequent tumor in women representing 16% of cancers. (1)
In Argentina, according to data provided in 2018 from the Global Cancer Observatory from the World Health Organization (WHO), breast cancer is the tumor with the greatest magnitude of occurrence, representing more than 21000 cases a year, 17% of malignant tumors. (2)
Being Mammography screening the study for breast cancer detection, new technologies as Digital Breast Tomosynthesis allow obtaining more information for the diagnosis. Its application in interventional procedures provides us access to findings sometimes not visible in 2D FFDM. Considering that approximately 2% of women who undergo screening will need a percutaneous biopsy, DBT performs procedures of shorter duration, obtaining greater diagnostic accuracy. (3)
Our purpose consists in to analyze and demonstrate the utility of stereotactic add-on tomosynthesis-guided-Vacuum-assisted breast biopsy (VABB) in architectural distortions and asymmetries visualized only by DBT (digital breast tomosynthesis). Compare the concordance of the radiological findings with histopathology.
