Learning objectives
The purpose of this educational poster is to briefly describe and provide illustrations of classical imaging signs in gastrointestinal tract.
To enumerate the features related to each signs and emphasis the cause of appearance of these signs and the differential diagnosis to aid the radiologist to achieve the diagnosis and underlying pathology.
Background
The goal of this presentation reviews an array of classic signs in gastrointestinal tract pathologies whose imaging features resembles everyday objects.
Radiologists should possess in-depth knowledge about various disease and their concomitant radiomorphological features.
When invoked classical sign, immediately brings an image to the mind and add confidence to differential diagnosis of certain pathological condition.
Findings and procedure details
1. Apple core sign
Apple core sign - describes a short segment irregular circumferential stricture of the large bowel that has abrupt "shouldered" margins resembling an apple core.
The appearance is classically described on contrast enema studies.
The appearance is most commonly located in the sigmoid colon as well as in the ascending, transverse, and descending colon. The apple core sign is classically seen in cases of colon carcinoma.
The differential diagnosisare Focal diverticulitis, Ischemic colitis, Ulcerative colitis and Infectious colitis.
2.Accordian sign

Conclusion
The role of descriptive radiological signs is to help with navigating through the wide-ranging spectrum of possible radiological findings associated with specific conditions.
Radiology signs plays an vital role in the decision making process, in the identification of differential diagnoses and in the achievement of a more accurate specific diagnosis.
