objective and instrumental examination. To determine the effect of diabetes mellitus type 2 atherocalcinosis patients were divided to two groups based on the presence / absence of the accompanying diabetes mellitus type 2.
Diabetes diagnosis is confirmed by laboratory tests,

Group I - 65 men with multifocal atherosclerosis and verified concomitant diabetes mellitus type 2 (mean age 60 ± 6,7 years).
Group II - 186 men with multifocal atherosclerosis and without diabetes mellitus (mean age 60,7 ± 7,5 years).
All the patients underwent the measurement of calcium scores (CS) of carotid arteries were obtained using Agatston method followed by the calculation of an additional parameter - equivalent calcium deposit density (ECDD,
mg/mm3).
