Purpose
We have tried to show the use of a weight bearing dynamic exam in the assessment of meniscal dislocation and meniscofemoral discontinuity after a sport trauma,
to evaluate the possible surgical treatment.
Methods and Materials
We have examined 12 athletes of different sports (soccer,
volleyball,
basketball) shortly after they suffered a trauma,
starting with a high-field MRI through a machine Philips 1.5 Tesla with T1,
PD and T2 Weighted,
T2 fat suppressed multiplanar sequences and completing it with a weight-bearing MRI through a machine Esaote G Scan Brio 0.25 Tesla with T1,
T2 Weighted,
T2 fat suppressed sequences on coronal and sagittal planes,
repeated on the same planes,
in non-weight bearing.
The measurement has been taken on the coronal plane...
Results
The results we obtained from the integration of a low-field MRI carried on with static and dynamic technique allowed us to better identify the extent of ligament and the meniscal capsular component damage.
In particular,
the dislocation of the meniscus and the increase of fluids in the sagittal and coronal planes in weight bearing with a greater side lower dislocation of the interested meniscus are more visible.

Conclusion
The use of a low-field dynamic MRI to complete an anatomic high-field study allows us to evaluate the extent of the meniscal capsular ligament damage and identify exactly the extent of the compartmental damage.
