Methods and Materials
We have examined 12 athletes of different sports (soccer,
volleyball,
basketball) shortly after they suffered a trauma,
starting with a high-field MRI through a machine Philips 1.5 Tesla with T1,
PD and T2 Weighted,
T2 fat suppressed multiplanar sequences and completing it with a weight-bearing MRI through a machine Esaote G Scan Brio 0.25 Tesla with T1,
T2 Weighted,
T2 fat suppressed sequences on coronal and sagittal planes,
repeated on the same planes,
in non-weight bearing.
The measurement has been taken on the coronal plane drawing a line parallel to the femur tibial bone cortex and another one parallel to the portion of meniscus dislocated toward the outside,
obtaining an numeric evaluation between the two lines.
Such measure has been than compared with the coronal T2 fat suppressed weighted sequence obtained with high-field MRI,
in the weight bearing and non-weight bearing image.
