Case 1: 90 years old female,
presented with right hip pain following a fall.
The images demonstrate avulsion of the right iliopsoas tendon from the lesser trochanter (Figure 1).
Case 2: 38 years old female,
presented after mechanical fall.
The images demonstrate sacral insufficiency fracture (Figure 2).
Case 3: 70 years old male,
presented with acute right hip pain following a fall.
The coronal T1 and STIR images demonstrate displaced fracture of the right iliac crest anteriorly with soft tissue oedema of the right gluteus minimus,
medius and iliacus muscles (Figure 3).
Case 4: 48 years old male,
with known history of the sarcoma in the right femur treated with radiotherapy and surgery.
He presented 8 weeks post surgery with acute right hip pain.
The images demonstrate an insufficiency fracture of the neck of the right femur (Figure 4 and 5).
Case 5: 73 years old female,
has been admitted with acute left hip pain and raised inflammatory markers with signs of sepsis.
The images demonstrated L4/L5 discitis (Figure 6).
Case 6: 13 years old boy,
presented with acute left hip pain and raised inflammatory markers but no history of trauma.
The axial and coronal STIR images demonstrate tortuous appearances of the quadratus femoris muscle fibres with avulsion of the tendon from its femoral attachment (Figure 7).
Case 7: 85 years old female,
presented with a fall and reduced mobility. The pelvic images demonstrate left acetabular fracture (Figure 8).
Case 8: 49 years old female,
with two week history of increasing right hip pain,
unable to weight bear. The radiograph,
ultrasound and subsequent MRI confirmed the diagnosis of calcific tendinitis of the rectus femoris (Figure 9,10,
11).
Case 9: 34 years old female,
with history of recurring pain in the left hip for a few months presented with acute exacerbation. The images demonstrate an expansile lytic lesion of the left acetebulum without breaching of the cortex.
This has progressed since the previous study.
The CT and MRI appearances are in keeping with cartilaginous tumour (Figure 12,13 and 14).
Case 10: 80 years old male,
with history of severe left hip pain for 10 days and unable to weight bear. O/E Large haematoma over medial posterior thigh over past 2 days. The MRI images demonstrate complete avulsion of the common tendon of the left hamstring muscles with associated soft tissue hamatoma/ oedema (Figure 15).
