Background/Introduction
Communication is one of the central issues in Radiology.
For many years,
there is a discussion on improvement of reporting in Radiology using templates with structured informations (so called "Structured Reporting").
Based on the definiton of a new profile by the international organisation "Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise" (IHE) for reporting,
which has been published in 2013,
there is a new drive in these activities.
This IHE profile MRRT (Management of Radiology Report Templates,
Fig.
1) enables the exchange of templates between different solutions,
the integration...
Description of activity and work performed
According to the model of the IHE MRRT profile,
we have developed an independant,
web-based tool for using Structured Reproting with the roles for "Template Manager" and "Report Creator".
This tool can be linked with many other IT-systems in Radiology,
e.g.
RIS and PACS to have an integrated approach for reporting (Demo at www.mrre.org).
It is possible to import templates from distinct repositories,
e.g.
RSNA - ESR database (http://www.radreport.org/) or to use own templates.
Based on the templates,
reports can be created in different ways,...
Conclusion and Recommendations
The EU Directive for Basic Safety Standards (2013) requires reporting of dose informations for medical procedures as part of the medical record.
Based on the IHE MRRT profile for Structured Reporting a new solution for the joined presentation and storage of dose information and medical informations has been developed.
This approach enables new possibilities for research and analytics.
