Background/introduction
Quality and safety activities are among the top priorities of the International Society of Radiology (
ISR).
The ISR’s mission is 'to facilitate the global endeavours of its member organisations to improve patient care and population health through medical imaging'.
Therefore,
the ISR Quality and Safety Alliance (
ISRQSA) was established in November 2016,
replacing the International Commission on Radiological Quality and Safety (ICRQS).
Guy Frija (France,
Chair of EuroSafe Imaging) and Donald Frush (USA,
Chair of Image Gently) act as co-chairs of the ISRQSA.

The ISRQSA acts as a convener and facilitator for continental,
regional and national quality and safety campaigns in radiation protection and drives the ISR’s quality and safety agenda.
Current members of the ISRQSA are:
- AFROSAFE RAD-EN
- AFROSAFE RAD-FR
- ARABSAFE
- Canada Safe Imaging
- EuroSafe Imaging
- Image Gently
- Image Wisely
- Japan Safe Radiology
- LATINSAFE
In addition,
the Chinese Society of Radiology and the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiology (RANZCR) are considered in the process of developing a quality and safety campaign and currently participate in ISRQSA as guests.
