Background/introduction
The triple burden of disease are rampant , whereby communicable diseases are still prevalent, non-communicable diseases are increasing, with high mortality from maternal, perinatal and nutritional causes in several countries from Africa and the Arabic countries.
This rising burden, including the risks in radiation has not received the full attention it deserves due to many issues, including low awareness of the burden and other conflicting health demands and limited resources.
Another major issue affecting the health care in Africa and the Arabic countries is limited qualified professionals, inadequate training institutions, inadequate infrastructure and equipment.
Timely access to essential, high quality, safe, effective and affordable medical care and products is imperative.
The investment in the health system by introducing new technologies in medical imaging transformed how health care is delivered, giving more people in remote areas access to better care.
Even with these strides, however, the healthcare system faces big challenges to match the safety practice due to an insufficient awareness of radiation protection by the professionals.
