Background/introduction
Rapidly growing number and difficultness of minimally invasive fluoroscopy-guided procedures over the recent years results in increased radiation exposure for interventional radiologists, medical staff and patients. Estimation of radiation dose to patients and medical staff enables comparison of radiation risk between different procedures. Knowledge of risk and proper management of patient´s and medical staff doses play crucial role in radiation dose reduction for all individuals working in interventional labs.
In this study we aimed to investigate real-time dosimetry doses of interventional radiologist and patient´s radiation dose levels in different interventional radiological procedures and study correlation between patients and operator´s doses. Real-time dose monitoring system in our practice helped us obtain important informations about procedural and occupational dose for variety of interventional radiology procedures. This knowledge may lead to improve working habits and radiation safety in future.
