Background/introduction
The European Alliance for Medical Radiation Protection Research (EURAMED) was established by five medical associations involved in the application of ionising radiation in medicine, namely the EANM (European Association of Nuclear Medicine), the European Federation of Organizations for Medical Physics (EFOMP), the European Federation of Radiographer Societies (EFRS), the European Society of Radiology (ESR) and the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO), with the goal to jointly improve medical care and to promote medical radiation protection through sustainable research efforts. EURAMED collaborates with relevant national, European and international scientific organisations, in particular the European radiation platforms dedicated to low-dose radiation risk/radiobiology (MELODI), dosimetry (EURADOS), radio-ecology (ALLIANCE), and emergency preparedness (NERIS) as well as social sciences and humanities (SHARE), as well as with patient organisations and the public at large.
