Background/introduction

The EuroSafe Imaging campaign is an initiative of ESR (European Society of Radiology). One focus of EuroSafe is to help practitioners in EU member states in the implementation process of the European Directive 2013/59/EURATOM (EU-BSS) [1,2] with working groups established as part of EuroSafe. An ESR survey among EU member states [3] in 2018 revealed a heterogeneous and partially incomplete implementation of the EU-BSS, in particular criteria for classification and managing unintended exposures. Description of activity and work performed

The WG had one meeting at ECR March 2019 and one online meeting in October 2019 to discuss structure and contents of a planned ESR publication (white paper). Three DMS vendor companies joined the March meeting in Vienna. Conclusion and recommendations

It was agreed that dosimetric input data for DMS should be only physical dose parameters delivered by the different modalities properly validated by a MPE. Depending on the workflow these data may either come directly from the modalities or with only one source via the PACS.
