La patología mamaria benigna en el varón,
especialmente la ginecomastia,
es la más frecuente en cualquier grupo de edad,
siendo importante su diferenciación de las lesiones sospechosas que requieren biopsia.
A pesar de la baja prevalencia de enfermedad neoplásica mamaria en el varón,
esta debe ser siempre descartada,
teniendo en cuenta que contrario a lo que ocurre en las mujeres,
las lesiones nodulares circuscritas y de componente quístico deben ser también consideradas sospechosas de malignidad.
