The radiation-safety campaign in Africa, known asthe Afrosafe Rad campaign was launched in 2015 to support the Bonn Call for Action issued in 2012 by the IAEA and WHO.This campaign which was ratified under the umbrella of the African Society of Radiology (ASR)has the missionof ensuring afavourable benefit-risk ratio in the use of ionizing radiation in medicine through encouraging adherence to international safety standards and guidelines.

Conclusion and recommendations
A strategy for the implementation of Afrosafe Rad should be graded for Africa as part of a needs-based improvement program. It should be tailored and selected to sub- regions and countries based on the resources and needs but also the culture and the languages; changing the way of the professionals operate is vital to meet current safety health challenges, considering that people, and therefore healthcare organizations, are inherently resistant to change.
