Aims and objectives
Cowper's glands (CG) are the accessory sex glands.
CG secret effect on fertility of sperm.
This determines the relevance of the study of CG.
Normal ultrasonic anatomy CG is not well understood [1-4].
Purpose: To study the normal ultrasonic anatomy (CG) in adults.
Methods and materials
Transrectal and transperineal ultrasound CG were performed in 76 volunteers aged 15 to 93 years using a rectal probe 6 to 9 MHz and a linear probe 6 to 16 MHz.
The shape,
size,
contours,
structure,
vascularization and spectral indices of blood flow CG were studied.
The results are presented as M ± SD (min - max).
Results
CG were paired in all cases.
They were located within the urogenital diaphragm.
Length CG was 6.4 ± 1.6 mm (2,5 - 10,0),
thickness of 4.0 ± 0.9 mm (2,3 - 6,0),
a width of 5.3 ± 1,4 mm (3.0 to 8.6),
volume of 0.26 ± 0,16 cm3 (0,07 - 0,71).
The asymmetry index volumes CG was less than 10%.
CG were ovoid in shape,
with clear contours,
homogeneous and hypoechoic structure (comparable with the muscles of the urogenital diaphragm).
The blood flow was detected...
Conclusion
Results of normal ultrasound anatomy CG are easily reproducible and can be used as a normative indicators in practice.
