To review the clinical and ultrasound findings of cellular fibroadenomas To discuss the cellular fibroadenoma mimicking other breast masses　

We reviewed 20 patients admitted to the Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires between 2001-2010 who had undergone surgical procedure of the breast with histopathologically confirmed diagnosis of cellular fibroadenoma Clinical, sonographic, mammographic, MRI and pathological findings were analyzed.

All patients were female (average age 23 years (range 11-46 years old)) with clinically palpable markedly rapid growth lumps (Fig. 1-3). Sonography was performed in all cases and mammography and MRI only in 2 patients. Mammographically, these lesions had homogenous well capsulated high density masses (Fig. 4). Sonograms showed well-circumscribed, ovoid, lobulated (12 cases) and round (8 cases) hypoechoic masses (Fig. 5-6). At Doppler evaluation 4 lesions demonstrated central vascularity (Fig. 7). Clinical and ultrasound findings of cellular fibroadenomas overlap with phyllodes tumor The histopathologic and imaging features of the cellular subtype of fibroadenoma and phyllodes tumor may be difficult to distinguish. Ultrasound main features are well circumscribed, ovoid, lobulated, hypoecoic masses, with heterogeneous echotexture
