Aims and objectives
Thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) is a useful treatment for Stanford type B aortic dissection to reduce morbidity and mortality.
The early and mid-term outcomes of thoracic endovascular aortic repair for Stanford type B aortic dissection (B-AD) have been reported largely[1-3].
However,
long-term results and large sample data are limited[4].
The aim of this study was to report our experiences and analyze short and long-term results of TEVAR for B-AD in 310 patients.
Methods and materials
Between February 2008 and March 2018,
310 consecutive patients who received TEVAR for B-AD in our department,
were enrolled in the study.
Patient records were retrospectively reviewed from the electronic medical record database.
Follow-up computed tomography angiography (CTA) imaging was available for all patients and the survival state was determined via telephone.
Early and late outcomes were recorded and analyzed.
Results
Technical success (coverage of the primary tear) was 99.35%.
There were two cases with a type I endoleak at the end of the procedure,
which defined as blood flow into the false lumen (FL) due to incomplete seal or ineffective seal at the extremity of the stent graft.
In-hospital and 30-day rates of death,
endoleak,
stroke,
and retrograde type A aortic dissection were 0.6% (n=2),
9.7% (n=30),
0.6% (n=2),
and 1.3% (n=4),
respectively.
The direct death cause of two patients was a new rupture of...
Conclusion
Thoracic endovascular aortic repair of Stanford type B aortic dissection proved to be feasible and effective over long-term follow-up.
