Background/Introduction

SERAM CONTRIBUTION TO THE EUROSAFE IMAGING CALL FOR ACTION The Spanish Society of Radiology contributes to the EuroSafe Imaging by implementing strengthening of medical radiation protection, promoting education and training, providing assistance, rendering services, fostering information exchange and coordinating research. Therefore, training health professional properly and ensuring intensive information exchange among them are, probably the most cost-effective ways of achieving patient safety. The involvement of national organizations and professional bodies is crucial to perform the actions and achieve the goals outlined in it.

Description of activity and work performed

SERAM contributions: Clinical decision support, clinical imaging guidelines: SERAM haveprepared a document on“Recommendations of not doing”, (Fig. 2) which is being complemented by another one from our specific section about breast imaging. Clinical audit: We offer developed clinical audit tools as “Spanish protocol of Quality Control in Diagnostic Radiology” (Fig. 3) and referral guidelines for medical imaging as “standards in vascular and interventional radiology“ (Fig. 4),also formed Consents documents and the required elements and recommendations to include in. SERAM will continue its active contributiont to the Eurosafe imagig: Implementing strengthening of medical radiation protection Providing assistance Rendering services Promoting education and training Fostering information exchange Coordinating research The most cost-effective ways of achieving patient safety are training health professional properly and ensuring intensive information exchange among them.
