Results
A total of 60 infants (39 from center A and 21 from center B) were recruited for this study,
32 male and 28 female,
ages ranging from 1 to 177 days (50 ± 54).
All infants tolerated the procedure well,
and no complications were noted in any of the patients.
The patients’ primary cardiac diagnoses are listed in Table 1 and the clinical questions that prompted CMR are shown in Table 2.
The feed-and-sleep CMR was successful in all 60 patients.
Acquired images were of sufficient quality and quantity to answer all of the clinical questions in every case.
All infants tolerated the procedure well,
and no complications occurred in any of the patients. Mean CMR duration was 45 ± 21 minutes and the median CMR duration was 42 minutes (range 4 to 132 minutes) (Table 1).
There were additional findings in a number of patients; in one patient,
the patient’s situs classification was corrected after CMR,
undetected pulmonary vein stenosis was noted in two patients,
partial anomalous pulmonary venous connection was ruled out in one patient,
unusual anatomy of pulmonary veins that was not noted on echocardiogram was seen in one patient and presence of vascular ring was confirmed or ruled out in 20 patients.
