Results

Of 111 patients retrieved from the PACS, 73 who did not undergo radiation therapy were excluded. 13 lacked either the staging or follow up CT, and 4 were excluded because of cardiac comorbidities. Thus, 21 subjects were analyzed, with an average age of 64 ± 18 years, 4 of which (19%) were women. Table 1

Pre-treatment mean haematocrit was 39 ± 4%, and mean ECV was 27.89 ± 3.54%. For each patient, we considered the longest follow up available, with a median interval time between end of RT and CT of 197 days (IQR 52 – 469 days), longest and shortest interval being 974 days and 7 days respectively. Mean ECV at follow up was 32.08 ± 4.51%, being significantly higher than pre-treatment ECV (p<0.001). Fig. 4

Age showed to be inversely correlated to the length of follow up period (Spearman’s rho = -0.66; p = 0.001).
