Imaging findings OR Procedure details
Our web version www.normalvalues.net is based on „iQ-ANATOMY“. iQ-ANATOMY is a multi-module database based on PostgreSQL that was developed by our department to structure the whole anatomy by topographical and functional criteria for its further use in structured reporting.

The access to the web version is free and available without previous registration. The web version can search the iQ-ANATOMY database for anatomical patterns structured by region or functionality as well as regions based on CT/MRI and US examinations. The user-friendly search criteria make it easy to find any value, e.g.
- …“Show all for CT abdomen“
- …“Show all for heart“
- …“Show all for bones“
All values of the database and web version give reference to the original literature and if available, information pertaining to patient numbers, age and sex. Until now we have collected around 400 values.

We integrated the database via our clinic intranet into several work stations in order to offer a quick tool for assisting in the decision of whether a finding is normal by formal criteria or not. For over 6 months, 3 experienced radiologists used the database consistently parallel to their diagnostic work and tried to structure their reports consequently by formal criteria given by the database. The quality improved significantly as reports could bring up a consequent statement more often.
